Homework
We are currently reviewing our homework policy. Slight changes have been made as follows:
Foundation & KS1 – 30 minutes of tasks per week plus reading, spellings and tables where appropriate.
Years 3 & 4- 1 hour of tasks plus reading, spellings and tables.
Year 5 – 1½ hours of tasks per week plus reading, spellings and tables.
Year 6 – 2 hours of tasks per week plus reading, spellings and tables.
The purpose of setting homework is to help develop an effective partnership between home and school and to extend the learning that happens in school.
For the infants, the homework will be sent home on a sheet. The juniors all have a homework diary in which the homework is recorded.
Please check the diary and sign it when your child has completed his or her work. The diary can also be used as a communication tool between home and school.
Reception – Year 5 will have a reading record book in addition to this, to record the reading they do. Please feel free to comment in these books.
We value any help you can give your child with homework.

If you have any contacts out of school with dancing, gymnastics or other organisations who may be interested in joining us, please contact Mrs. Cobb or the School Office.

Surrey Childrens Information Service is hosting an event for parents of children who are due to start school in Sept 2007; this will be for people living in the Guildford and Woking areas.
They will be held at both of the Guildford Childrens Centre’s on 29th September from 9.00 – 3pm at Bellfields site, on the 2nd October 9.30 – midday at their town centre site and at the Woking Children’s Centre on the 6th October 9.30-3pm (TBC). We have named this event Ready for School as we have found a large number of parents across Surrey are confused and sometimes concerned about their child starting school for the first time as well as knowing how to go about applying for a school place. In addition to starting school we are using this opportunity to raise awareness about bullying and how it can be addressed. This is in partnership with Kidscape who have provided a number of materials to give to children and parents. These events will also commence in September at Leatherhead, and Epsom Downs Childrens Centres.
It will be hosted by Kelly Phillips of Surrey County Council and her colleague Kerry Evans. They are both Childrens Information Outreach Officers working for Surrey Childrens Information Service, providing advice and guidance for parents and carers for children from birth to fourteen.
Reception Photographs
Year R will be having their photographs taken on Monday 25th for an article on First Days in School. This will be featured in the Surrey Advertiser.
