Annual Governors’ Meeting for Parents
As we did not have a very good response to the invitation for parents to attend the Annual Governors’ meeting, the meeting has been cancelled.
Meridian TV
Meridian TV featured an excerpt about our Hopes & Dreams Project on Saturday 10th July at 5.15 p.m. The coverage was very good as it gave prominence to the children’s work and their views. We do hope that some of you managed to see it, as it had originally been scheduled for either Thursday 8th or Friday 9th July.
If you missed this and would like to view it we will have a video showing at 3.30p.m. on Monday 18th – this will last for approximately 3 minutes.
Holly Lodge Goes to the Movies
The school hall was packed to capacity twice this week, as audiences eagerly awaited the annual junior production. Expecting the usual high standard of performance from our children, they were not disappointed.
Presenting âÃòHolly Lodge Goes to the Movies’, a cast of over 60 children entertained parents, friends and members of the wider school community with drama, dance and music.
The performances were based on: ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘The Jungle Book’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Pocahontas’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’ and ‘Mary Poppins’.
The drama, dancing and music were of superb quality and reflected the enormous time and effort put in by children and staff. We would like to thank the children for the high level of commitment shown during some very hot weather and some very long rehearsals. Their contributions, together with those from a large number of staff, culminated in a superb team effort.
Mrs J Cobb – Production Co-ordinator
Miss H Murphy – Director of Drama
Our thanks go to all the staff who helped make the play such a resounding success. We would like to thank Miss Murphy and Mrs Cobb in particular in their role as Producers and Mrs Boys, Mr Davies and Mr Elsey for their help with costumes, props and scenery and lighting.
Year 5/6 Garden Outdoor Classroom
The parasols have now been erected which signals the completion of the project. We are delighted that the area is now in full use. Our thanks to the PTA for the benches and parasols, which have added the finishing touches and co-ordinate beautifully with the garden.
Miss Ross
If you wish to convey your goodwill message to Miss Ross, please see the School Office.
Helpers
We would like to thank all our voluntary helpers for the invaluable work that they do to support the work of the school.
Holiday Homework
To avoid the children regressing over the summer holiday break, the teachers will be providing the children with some homework. The teachers will also be providing you with your child’s current level of attainment and the indicators for that level. This will help you to support your child and offer the necessary prompts when the homework is being done.
The library is also running a scheme called The Reading Voyage, which will be a good source of reading material for the children.
School Dinners
If you wish your child to have school dinners next term, could you please complete the attached proforma and return to the School Office by Thursday 21st July. Please note that the price has been increased with effect from 1st September 2005 to £1.50 per day. Can we remind you that any changes to school dinner requirements should be made in writing with one week’s notice. When paying for school dinners please make cheques payable to Surrey County Council, marked clearly on the back with your child’s name and class. Cash and cheques should be placed in a sealed envelope, again marked clearly with your child’s name and class.
Leavers
If any of our leavers would like to donate a book to either the class or the school library, please ask at the office for a bookplate.
Talent Show
The Junior Talent Show will be held on Monday 18th July in the afternoon and will be shown to the whole school. The children involved have decided they would like to raise money for a charity and have nominated The NSPCC Full Stop Campaign. If you wish to donate to this worthy cause then please send in 30p with your child in a sealed envelope.
Clubs for September
Please note that there will be no clubs for the first two weeks of term.
