Summer Term Newsletter 1
1st July 2005
Workforce Remodelling
Attached to this newsletter is a letter from the County about Workforce Remodelling. At Holly Lodge we are currently in the process of finalising our arrangements so that we give the children the highest quality of cover that we can. We will give you more information as soon as we are able.
Infant Sports Day
Well done to all the infants who took part in the sports day on Tuesday. Thank you to all the parents who came and watched.
We would like to congratulate the Year 6 children who helped with the Infant Sports Day on Tuesday. They were responsible for organising the equipment, supporting the children during the races and, after a hot afternoon’s work, putting everything away afterwards. They did a superb job.
Junior Sports Day
Unfortunately this had to be cancelled on Thursday due to wet weather but has been re-scheduled for Monday 4th July at 1.30p.m., subject to the weather.
Production
Our junior play entitled “Holly Lodge goes to the Movies” will be performed on 13th and 14th July, starting at 7.00 p.m.(not 7.30 p.m. as previously stated).
Ticket invitations will be issued to the parents of the children in Years 4, 5 and 6. If you would like to see the play and do not have a child in these years, please call in at the School Office to book a ticket.
If you have any boaters or cloth caps that you would be happy to lend for the play, Mrs Boys will ensure that they are returned.
Miss Ross
As you are aware, Miss Ross will be leaving at the end of this term and we would like to make a presentation to her. If you would like to contribute towards a gift, please send your donation into the School Office
Thank you
Outdoor Area
The new outdoor area, outside the Year 5/6 unit is now well on the way to completion. Tables and Pergolas will be installed during the summer holidays, ready for use as a quiet area in September. It has required a lot of hard work from a small number of people but the final result is well worth the effort.
I would like to mention the following by name, as without them we could not have produced such a lovely effect:
Mrs Beck and Peter, Ms Smart, Mr Boulnois, The Best Family, Mr Davies,Mrs Herdeis, Mr Bowker, Mr Nash and Matt Underwood and his Team of Students from Guildford College.
Thanks to them all for giving freely – if painfully, of their time and talents.
Mrs Boulnois
Our thanks must go to Mrs Boulnois who not only provided the creative energy for the project but the drive and the labour to get it finished in such a short space of time. The area looks splendid.
Parents Questionnaire
If you have not yet returned the Parents Questionnaire sent out a few weeks ago, please could you do so as we would be very grateful for the feedback. You can fill these in anonymously if you so choose.
Little Berries
Little Berries have some spaces available for the afternoon of our Open Day on Thursday 7th July 2005. If you wish to take up a space, please see the School Office for details.
Mystery Cheque
A cheque has been handed in for payment towards the Paignton Trip for next year. Unfortunately we do not have any supporting paperwork with the cheque and cannot connect the name on the cheque with any of our Year 5 children. If you recognise the name of
D L Adams could you please see the School Office.
